CrossLex Rules |
| The board consists in a base board of 36 cells made by four zones of 3 by 3 cells each and can be extended by additional segments of 9 cells each. |
|
| Cells may have a multiplier value. Thus, cells with a label of 2 or 3 cause the value of the character placed over it to be multiplied by 2 or 3 |
| If a cell is labelled D or T the score of a the whole word that uses that cell is doubled or tripled. This is done after having computed the scores of individual characters. |
| There are 231 tokens each with a character and a score. |
| There is a score pad to keep track of points, and lengths of words. |
|
| First players chose an equal number of segments until a total number of 60 (or as near to 60 as possible) is chosen. These will be made available to players. |
| The game consists in placing words in the board. The first player selects up to 5 tokens and forms a word that he places anywhere in the base board. The resulting score is computed. |
| If any of the characters is at a border, the player must chose one of the additional segments and placed it aligned in the zone (see note below). |
| The next player in turn selects up to as many tokens as the longest word formed so far and places a word so that at least one character of the existing words is used in it and forms a word as did the previous player, and so on. |
The game ends when either:
9 or less different tokens to be played are left.
2 or less different vowels tokens to be played are left.
A player runs out of additional segments when one is required. |
| The player with most points wins. |
| Note: Align in the zone means that all borders have to be of length 3 or multiple of three. |
