HISTORY

On the last fortnight of 2001, Eduardo Gonzalez, a middle aged Electronic Engineer, lost his managerial job in a Bank. On the following day while shopping he saw a card version of the most popular crossword game. While wondering how this board game was turned into a card game, he got a an idea of a new, different game. He spent hours in the following days writing the instructions, building a board and pieces, choosing a good name and registering copyrights.

During the process he explored new and original alternatives inspired in natural processes which would exclude any element of randomness or chance. This new game looked simple and easy to play just with a piece of paper and a pencil. He played many times against himself and with his daughters realizing that it was quite amusing, almost addictive. Mistakes made by the players required to erase and rewrite, which was annoying to the players and leading to a more comfortable boardgame version.

The next step was to find suitable parts to build a hard version prototype. That prototype used cardboard and handwritten mini tiles made of glass. Pictures of that first prototype were used in the document that formalized the complete rules of CrossAx©, the name he gave it and that he registered as trade mark. He then had its instructions copyrighted. After playing many times against more than a dozen opponents, he decided to build a nice prototype.
